I received the following information from the Seattle Public Schools on November 8, 2017. These are significant changes to the appeals process for advanced learning. Please read this information carefully.
"Advanced Learning has made some changes to the information regarding private testing to support appeals of eligibility decisions. Please review the updated information at http://www.seattleschools.org/cms/One.aspx?portalId=627&pageId=8631501. Our office will begin posting Advanced Learning eligibility decisions in early December, and plan to complete the process, including appeals, by early February.
We no longer post a list of private testing providers. That practice was misconstrued as an official endorsement of certain evaluators. Parents will be directed to public listings of licensed testing providers.
We are mindful of creating equitable access to Advanced Learning for all students. Many families are unable to afford private appeals testing. If you would consider providing one pro-bono evaluation for a student who qualifies for Free or Reduced Price Lunches (FRL), please let us know. We will make that information known to eligible families. We are deeply grateful to those of you who have volunteered in the past.
Information about requirements for submitting scores and reports can be found at http://www.seattleschools.org/cms/One.aspx?portalId=627&pageId=14649."
